Last month I took African Art History. It was amazing! It really made me redefine what constitutes "art". In the class we studied ancient African art, as well as contemporary (the Diaspora). At the end of the class, we looked at textiles-quits, as art. I had never really thought about quilting before, but some of them were so beautiful. It was really interesting to learn the history behind them, and what the patterns and symbols mean, and how they can relate to African cloths like Kuba and Kente cloths. So I've decided to give it a go. I got a bunch of fabrics and a sewing machine for Xhristmas. (Now I just have to learn how to use it).. So that's my new project, and I'm really jazzed about it! So if anyone knows anything about it, or if there are any textile deviations, someone please point me in the right direction! Thanks!
